SHOT & KILLED BY THE LAPD on March 25, 2008. The family was notified of his death 21 days later. Despite the officers having ran his id prior to shooting him. Usman was only 21 years old & will be extremely missed! |

Usman told me numorous times before his death that he was very afraid of the lapd and he was worried that one of the officers was going to kill him. He was asleep in the bushes. They should never had even gone up to him considering there are people sleeping on the sidewalks all over that neighborhood. The cops had been threatening and intimidating him mounths before his death. I believe it was a premeditated homicide

We were succesful during the Rodney King trial and the police were made to look like fools when they were unable to control the crowd. Even after all your insults on how people spell, there lack of knowledge you still refrain from looking at two critical questions: 1 why was the family notified 21 days later when his id was ran before he was shot? & 2 why was he handcuffed? This info can be found through the public records act, does not require one to be at the scene crime, you dumb fool!
At least everyone at this site regardless of how well they can spell or how well they can express themselves have HEART and have emotions and are trying to make the world a safer place by WEEDING OUT the rooten police officers, remember you said yourself not all officers are good and not all are bad.
With all that said, maybe you can show yourself at one of the vigils and mouth off the way you are now so that we can see what a pathetic excuse for a humanbeing you actually are! Dumb fool.

| posted by: | elliott| message: | yeah, i’ve heard some details on this case and its really interesting. officer joseph cruz had a small laceration on his left hand, which has the potential to have been self-inflicted. there are serious allegations i’m not at liberty to post here, but they are condemning and frightening if proven true. an official investigation needs to be asking these questions, unfortunately the internal LAPD investigation has already been closed and found no wrong doing on the part of officer cruz or the LAPD, even regarding the 3 week delay in notifying the victims family,during which time Usman’s body was decomposing in the morgue. yes, it is disgusting. as a muslim this was a serious violation of religious burial rites, and the family has every right to be outraged at the official handling of this case. and yes, it is against LAPD policy to shoot suspects in the stomach, as it is highly lethal and extremely slow and painful for the victim. the coroner found Usman did bleed to death, and had likely been handcuffed for several hours prior to his death, which contradicts everything in the official report of what happened. police accountability is a serious issue we all need to be concerned with and active in creating, for as the justice system stands now there is little to none. the cops who murdered sean bell received full acquittals. the cops who beat rodney king, the ones shot tayisha miller and amadoud diallo tens of times, there are too many to name, all acquitted. check out stolenlives.org, its an ongoing community project to document the victims of unjustified police homicide. hope to see you at the next vigil, peace

Why because a police officer shot him & realized he made a mistake & LAPD was then ashamed & didn't know what to tell the family when they called this time around!? SPEAK UP & ASK QUESTIONS! NO IMMUNITY FOR POLICE OFFICERS--its the fire fighters that deserve the MOST respect, they are the ones that really risk there lives to help secure the lives of others. Go Fire fighters!
