CWLA Committees
All members of CWLA must participate in at least one committee. Committees are part of the overall structure of CWLA, along with our chapters, caucuses and coalition work.
1) Newsletter
The CWLA Newsletter is a publication for the communities we live and patrol in. The newsletter is an outlet for each chapter of CWLA to utilize for alternative media, chapter updates, upcoming events, etc. The committee responsible for the CWLA Newsletter collects chapter and community contributions, edits, designs and produces each issue.
2) Table
The CWLA Table is part-fundraising and part-outreach. We sell books, pamphlets, audio CDs, films, shirts, buttons, and so fourth. Tabling is also an opportunity for us to build relationships at the various cultural/political events we are invited to. The committee responsible for the CWLA Table develops the structure and roles necessary for tabling, finds events to table at, coordinates shifts with CWLA members, maintains monthly records of sale, and works closely with the CWLA Treasurers and Arts & Propaganda.
3) Arts & Propaganda
Propaganda is important for any organization to get the word out about it's politics, events, campaigns, etc. This crew produces CWLA leaflets, pamphlets, posters, stickers, stencils, etc. All materials are approved at CWLA general meetings.
4) Street Team
The Street Team distributes propaganda, newsletters, surverys, etc. The committee responsible develops the organization for Street Teams. Every CWLA member is expected to carry out Street Team duties, especially door-to-door work.
5) Political Education & Training
Political Education & Training Committee members are responsible for putting together CWLA curricula, workshops, trainings, etc. They also research individuals and organizations outside of CWLA who provide these kinds of resources to CWLA members.
6) Events
This committee creates the criteria for CWLA events, especially fundraisers such as benefit concerts, film nights, and so on. All events held at the Chuco Justice Center must get approval at CJC space meetings that occur once a month.
7) Self-Defense
This committee coordinates the excercise and self-defense classes for CWLA members.
8) Communications
This committee heads up general correspondance, the website, and so on.
9) Media
This committee both corresponds with and helps to organize media opportunities for CWLA. We have strict positions when it comes to dealing with mainstream media. All mainstream media must respect these guidelines or take a hike. Simultaneously, this committee also organizes independent or alternative media for CWLA.
10) Fundraising
This committee combines fundraising efforts with Treasury duties. |
